Topical Aroma Therapy – Essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin and many can be safely applied topically when used in conjunction with a carrier oil, such as Fractionated Coconut Oil. Many of doTERRA’s oils come in a roll on bottle for easy topical application. Some common areas on the body to apply essential oils are: bottom of feet, back of neck, abdomen, palms of hands, along the spine and joints.

 

How does this work? Our skin is somewhat permeable. The active chemicals in essential oils are absorbed just like the ingredients in common pharmaceuticals such as hormone replacement therapy cream and nicotine patches. The molecules absorb into the skin and to the bloodstream where the “information” can be carried to the rest of the body.
